Kim & Steve (also known as Steve & Kim) have a combined 40+ years working as advertising creatives in various parts of the world. We’ve been freelancing from Dunedin since 2015. In that time we’ve worked remotely for agencies and design companies in Auckland, Wellington, Sydney, and locally too.

Working remotely, we can be a little more flexible. We’re not in your office, so we can just charge the time we’re actually on the job (not while we’re waiting around for a delayed brief). We can work full weeks, a few days a week, a few days over a few weeks, or even a few random hours.

We’re also more than happy to spend some time in your offices, if that’s what you need.

STEVE McCABE

As a child, Steve was teased by his brother for looking a bit like the Milky Bar Kid. Since then, he’s made it his mission to create advertising characters that bear no personal resemblance.

So, in the early nineties he made great use of his Graphic Design degree and became a copywriter, in London. There, he worked at some of the bigger (and even some of the better) ad agencies in town, including BMP DDB, DMB&B, Lowe Howard-Spink, and EuroRSCG.

Since then he’s also worked in Auckland, Sydney, Beijing, Dubai, and Lagos. On his travels, he’s picked up his fair share of effectiveness and creative awards – including a couple of Gold Lions at the Cannes International Festival of Creativity.

As you might imagine, Steve has been involved with a wide range of brands over the years, in a variety of client sectors. Including banks, cars, insurance, power, telcos, tourism, beers, spirits, FMCG, retail and not-for-profit organisations. And probably a whole lot more.

He finally put down some roots in 2015 and settled in Dunedin. The cat and dog are doing their best to keep him in his box, but he’s still up for short-term adventures. If you’re ever passing through, the Milky Bars are on Steve.

KIM FRASER

(Kāi Tahu, Kāti Māmoe, Waitaha)

Kim spent four years at Special Group in Auckland, before moving on to Droga5 and DDB in Sydney. Originally from Otago, the call of the deep south had always niggled, and she couldn't be happier to be doing the job she loves, in the place she loves.

In her time she's worked across all sorts of clients, big and small: Alcoholic Drinks, Automotive, FMCG, Banking, Insurance, Utilities, Supermarkets, TV Stations, News Media, Tourism, Eco Products, to name a few. (Don’t worry Mum, no tobacco or weapons.)

Kim's work has been awarded at Cannes, One Show Entertainment, AWARD and New Zealand's creative show, Axis, where she won 'Emerging Talent' in 2012.

She gets a kick out of working at all kinds of scales, from a $$$ tv ad, to a few words on a beer can.

When not working, you’ll likely find Kim up at the golf course, looking forlorn.

AWARDS: Cannes Silver; Cannes Bronze; One Show Entertainment Silver; D&AD In Book; AXIS Gold, Bronze, Emerging Talent, 10 finalists; AWARD Silver x2, Bronze x2, Finalist; Best Awards x7, 3 Finalists; Caxtons winner x2; Young Guns Silver Bullet. Roslyn Wakari AFC Golden Boot.

CLAUDE

Is a cat.

At the ripe old age of 17, he’s more of a figurehead for the company these days. He spends most of his days asleep, but occasionally perks up to hiss at and swipe Steve’s dog.
